NCQA grants Online Care Group 100 percent perfect score for its physician credentialing process
BOSTON (Jan. 12, 2016) – American Well, a national telehealth technology and services company, today announced that its affiliated provider network, Online Care Group, received certification from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for physician credentialing, with a perfect score of 100 percent.
This is not the first time the American Well family has received industry certification for meeting quality standards. In 2015 Amwell, American Well’s direct-to-consumer service, became the first and only consumer telehealth platform to receive accreditation by the American Telemedicine Association.
“We’ve long credentialed our providers to NCQA standards and are proud to be recognized with a perfect score,” said Dr. Peter Antall, Chief Medical Officer, American Well and President, Online Care Group. “We believe that telehealth should be no different than traditional healthcare in meeting quality of care standards set by the industry and delivering care to patients that they can trust.”
“Achieving credentialing certification from NCQA demonstrates that Online Care Group has the systems, process and personnel in place to conduct credentialing according to its provider credentialing process with the strictest quality standards,” said Margaret E. O’Kane, president of NCQA.
Online Care Group is comprised of more than 700 board-certified physicians, registered dietitians and psychotherapists operating in 48 States. It is unique in that its clinicians dedicate a significant portion of their working lives to the practice of telehealth. The group operates as any large medical group would, with clinical leadership and management dedicated to the long-term welfare of patients. The group has also innovated in the area of provider communications and training, resulting in programs such as virtual “Grand Rounds,” telehealth CME programs and other online, secure collaboration tools.
Online Care Group providers practice telehealth using Amwell. Amwell can be accessed via smartphone, traditional phone, web, and kiosk-based care delivery. For more information on American Well and its products and services, please visit www.americanwell.com.
