Boston, MA and Madison, WI – March 2, 2017 – American Well, a leading telehealth company, today announced that it has been selected by UW Health as the health system’s telehealth partner. Later this year, UW Health will launch a new video visit service that will be powered by American Well’s telehealth services.

“We will work closely with American Well to bring this new technology to UW Health employees and  patients,” said Dr. Thomas Brazelton, medical director of the UW Health telehealth program.

UW Health is the integrated academic health system associated with the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Anchored by University Hospital in Madison, UW Health has become one of the nation’s largest organ-transplant programs; is certified as a Level 1 trauma center for both adult and pediatric patients; and includes a burn center verified by the American College of Surgeons.

The new UW Health telehealth service will offer patients ways to access care from home or work without having to visit a UW Health facility. The initial service will be available to employees of UW Health, followed by a direct-to-patient program, including on-demand and scheduled video visits. Further details of the new service, and how to access it, will be announced later this year.

“UW Health is a highly regarded institution with strong ties to the community. Telehealth will help strengthen those ties by helping to further project UW Health services into patients’ homes and workplaces,” said Danielle Russella, President, Customer Solutions, American Well. “We’re proud to partner with UW Health as they extend and make access easier, expand their reach, and advance the well-being of the communities they serve.”
