System and Network Requirements – Tyto
Wi-Fi Network Requirements
Internet speed and good connectivity do impact patient/provider experience in the Livestream workflow. It is critical the health system ensure good network quality for providers and that patients are educated on being as close to the router as possible/having strong Wifi while using a Tyto device in the visit. Please see below for specific requirements:
- 2 Megabytes per second download and upload
- Recommended network speed is 20 Megabytes per second download and 5 Megabytes per second upload
- The Tyto device only supports 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi
- In the room that the device is being used/paired, ensure that the wi‑fi signal is strong. The device will not connect properly without it
- Enterprise wi-fi networks are require additional setup and are not recommended
- The Tyto device automatically detects accounts
- logged into an app on the same network
- Customer must be on Amwell Home version 12.0.54 or higher to enable Livestream
- iOS needs to be 12.0.16 or higher
The below configurations are not supported:
- Networks with a proxy server or those that require a secondary sign in
- 5 GHZ frequency band – 5GHz requirement is for Tytos on a G2 or newer hardware version
Troubleshooting
If there are still connectivity issues, perform a ‘Factory Reset’ to the device and go through the pairing process again:
- Device Menu -> Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Back to factory defaults
Network Firewall Requirements
The TytoCare solution uses HTTPS protocol and requires the following TCP.UDP ports to function properly:
- Outbound TCP port 443
- Outbound UDP ports 1024 and above*
The full range of ports is required to establish a peer‑to‑peer videoconference session via WebRTC. If the requested port is blocked, the application will still establish a videoconference session – as long as UCP 3478 is open, see table below – but via an indirect relay made.

UDP port 3478: Our recommendation is to allow traffic to any IP address on this specific port – this is traffic associated with the videoconferencing session and will travel to one of the WebRTC stun/turn servers that are dynamically allocated, e.g. icelink1.tytocare.com, icelink2.tytocare.com,etc.
HTTPS port 443: The Tyto servers are hosted in AWS cloud and located behind a web application firewall (WAF), Incapsula, which will always assign an IP within the following ranges that can be whitelisted in the organizations firewall:
- 199.83.128.1-199.83.135.254
